Favorite Salesforce Feature

This week, I’m obsessing over Rollup Summary fields, but Process Builder is my go to. I love the ability to build intricate processes without code.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Activities. There are some really simple improvements that would make them not so much a pain in the rump. i.e.: customizing the Related To field, adding a Long Text Area field, and Look up filters.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Mastering the language of formulas and validation rules..more un-distracted Trailhead time.

5 Fun Facts about Jessica
  1. I love Disney. Disney World is my favorite, but I’ve also been to Disney Land in Paris. Best Disney fact about me: My husband and I got married there.
  2. My best friend and I grew up with the same name. First and last.
  3. I can hula hoop with a fire hoop and was once called a Guitar Hero prodigy.
  4. I met my husband on match.com and we were married exactly one year later.
  5. At DST17, I put $20 into a penny slot (the obnoxious dancing leprechaun) and won $250. I cashed out, put the ticket into a $1 slot and on the first go hit another $250

Most Identifies With Which Salesforce Mascot

Codey. If there is food around, I’m gonna eat it, I love to sleep and if I shake your hand, there is a chance that I’m also gonna hug you.

Are you a UserGroup Leader?

I help out with the Wisconsin User Group

Favorite Salesforce Feature

I love Lightning Experience. Finally having a user experience that matches the power under behind the scenes is a beautiful thing!

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Reporting: The native report tool is so powerful . . . until it’s not. Showing users how easy it is to create useful and applicable reports but then having to say “Um, you can’t do that” when they want complex multi-child reporting is a difficult pill to swallow.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

I would like to focus on the community for the rest of the year, so I’m planning to present another SFDC webinar and hope to turn it into a DF17 session! (maybe with Ben’s help again . . . . ?)

*Editor’s note: We have it on good authority that Ben would indeed love to do another Dreamforce session with Squire!

5 Fun Facts about Squire

5.) I coach baseball and lacrosse, neither of which I played in school/college.
4.) My drink of choice is scotch and have tried nearly 50 single-malts.
3.) I used to be a professional gamer, and hosted a podcast for nearly 4 years on the topics of strategy and design.
2.) My favorite super hero is Spiderman, but I am severely arachnophobic
1.) During college, I worked security for concerts, and had an opportunity to see Pink Floyd during rehearsal as well as slap high-five with Ritchie Sambora after a show.

Most Identifies With Which Salesforce Mascot

Einstein: Albert Einstein and I share the same birth date, he had a brilliance but also humility that I greatly respect, and my favorite quote by Albert, “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” represents who I am and how I achieve my Salesforce goals. Also . . . A.I.? I mean, that’s some Star Trek stuff right there! My inner nerd is loving where that is headed.

Visual Flow. It jump started my ability as an Admin, because I was now able to solve problems in Salesforce that I previously needed code for (and I was unable to code back then). This allowed me to provide more value to my company and myself.

Are you a User Group Leader?

Yes! The New Delhi Salesforce Developer Group

Favorite Salesforce Feature

Process Builder. Everyday I discover new use cases that this wonderful tool can solve. This tool enabled me to get rid of Apex Triggers for 90% of the cases.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Quick Create. No validations work when creating records via this feature, leads to dirty data getting created in the system. It is the first thing I disable as soon as I get a new org.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Clear all Certified Technical Architect certs and hopefully Review Board as well.

Fun Fact about Atul

You can see me going bonkers in this #Apexnthelimits video!

Process builder and flow! This puts the power of automation in the hands on the admin. Clicks not code!

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Quick create. This causes data issues for us where validation rules are ignored and you can’t customize the fields shown on the page and bypasses record type selection. Why do we still have that?!

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

I would like to get 1-2 more Salesforce certifications under my belt, continue personally to grow own Salesforce experience, continue to reach people in the community via blog, presentations at in person and virtual events, attend regional events and hopefully, find more time to spend on the Success Community.

40 Badges

Favorite Salesforce Feature

Process Builder + Invocable methods combo; in addition to the obvious capabilities of combining code with declarative functionality, this combo allows you to switch on/off code changes very quickly and without running test classes or using ant.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Drawing a blank, but my gripe this week is multi-language anything. Take for example Assignment Rules and notification settings for them. Breaking out 1 rule into 5 to be able to send different email templates based on language settings, or configuring a weird template hack just isn’t admin-friendly nor effective.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Spend less time working in client orgs on the weekends/late weekdays and more time in communities/on my blog site… Also, all of the certs. ALL OF THEM.

Fun Fact about Shannon

I LOVE unsweetened carrot juice.

Most Identifies With Which Salesforce Mascot
