Favorite Salesforce Feature

Just one? Honestly, it’s the Platform. Having built fullstack web apps for many years, developing on Salesforce with clicks or code is so fast, scalable, adaptable, and enjoyable. I simply love designing and implementing automation and logic on the platform! Invocable Apex for Process Builder and Flow is one of my favorite clicks+code combinations.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Quick Create in Classic; bypasses validation rules and not really customizable. Lookup fields in Lightning Experience are much more awesome-er =)

Favorite Salesforce Feature

Custom Objects coupled with Process Builder; We as Administrators can make our Salesforce Orgs jump through hoops.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Reporting: The native report tool is so powerful . . . until it’s not. Showing users how easy it is to create useful and applicable reports but then having to say “Um, you can’t do that” when they want complex multi-child reporting is a difficult pill to swallow.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Using my Dev Org to build a gamified productivity application in the style of Dungeons and Dragons. Using the Community feature available on the Developers Org, you can invite 5 other Admins to play along and encourage better productivity. Pretty Neat-o, right?

Are you a User Group Leader?

Yes! The New Delhi Salesforce Developer Group

Favorite Salesforce Feature

Process Builder. Everyday I discover new use cases that this wonderful tool can solve. This tool enabled me to get rid of Apex Triggers for 90% of the cases.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Quick Create. No validations work when creating records via this feature, leads to dirty data getting created in the system. It is the first thing I disable as soon as I get a new org.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Clear all Certified Technical Architect certs and hopefully Review Board as well.

Fun Fact about Atul

You can see me going bonkers in this #Apexnthelimits video!

Favorite Salesforce Feature

Process Builder + Invocable methods combo; in addition to the obvious capabilities of combining code with declarative functionality, this combo allows you to switch on/off code changes very quickly and without running test classes or using ant.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Drawing a blank, but my gripe this week is multi-language anything. Take for example Assignment Rules and notification settings for them. Breaking out 1 rule into 5 to be able to send different email templates based on language settings, or configuring a weird template hack just isn’t admin-friendly nor effective.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Spend less time working in client orgs on the weekends/late weekdays and more time in communities/on my blog site… Also, all of the certs. ALL OF THEM.

Fun Fact about Shannon

I LOVE unsweetened carrot juice.

Most Identifies With Which Salesforce Mascot

Codey. Codey likes to hibernate through the winters and code through the rest of the year. 🙂
