London Marketing Cloud User Group

Favorite Salesforce Feature

I love that you can login anywhere, when I first started working with Salesforce it was the only cloud CRM.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Some of the email things. I wish that emails sent via workflow were logged like an email sent like a user. Rolling out Salesforce for Outlook can also be easy or bumpy all dependant on user’s machine. I wish this was as easy as some of the stuff on the platform.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

To attend as many SF and community events as I can. So far I have managed London’s Calling, Amsterdam WT, London WT, TrailheaDX, Dream Ole, MidWest Dreamin’, WITness Success, Surf Force and I will be going to Dreamforce.

5 Fun Facts about Kerry
  1. I like the more extreme sports, most recently Kite Surfing and Surfing. I have also done some parachute jumps and wing walking.
  2. I volunteer for MacMillan Cancer Care as a CancerVoice.
  3. In 2014 I spent 3 months traveling in South America, although sadly still can’t speak Spanish.
  4. I used to be so anxious about speaking in public, I would not speak in a group of friends. When I was pushed to present I would visibly shake. I have forced myself to overcome that and now give talks when ever I can.
  5. I would love to own Alpacas.
Most Identifies With Which Salesforce Mascot

Codey, although my coding is a work in progress.

Favorite Salesforce Feature

REST API. Because I can then use other devices to interface with Salesforce.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

I know its not really a feature per say, but the thing that bugs me the most is that when you go to the customize menu in the setup bar it is not alphabetized and it takes me extra time to find what the heck I am looking for. Why can’t Activities be after Accounts?

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Earn some certifications

This week, I’m obsessing over Rollup Summary fields, but Process Builder is my go to. I love the ability to build intricate processes without code.

Activities. There are some really simple improvements that would make them not so much a pain in the rump. i.e.: customizing the Related To field, adding a Long Text Area field, and Look up filters.

Mastering the language of formulas and validation rules..more un-distracted Trailhead time.

Yes! I’m the Co-Leader @ Birmingham (AL) User Group

@RestResource, Custom Apex APIs. I love to build integrations to external systems, and being able to build my own APIs allows me to frost a complex cake with simple icing.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Multi-select picklists. I’m with @SteveMo on this one. Very convenient from a UI standpoint, but a real pain in the neck for reports and formulas!

Process Builder + Invocable methods combo; in addition to the obvious capabilities of combining code with declarative functionality, this combo allows you to switch on/off code changes very quickly and without running test classes or using ant.

Salesforce’s Biggest Opportunity for Improvement

Drawing a blank, but my gripe this week is multi-language anything. Take for example Assignment Rules and notification settings for them. Breaking out 1 rule into 5 to be able to send different email templates based on language settings, or configuring a weird template hack just isn’t admin-friendly nor effective.

Salesforce Goal(s) for 2017

Spend less time working in client orgs on the weekends/late weekdays and more time in communities/on my blog site… Also, all of the certs. ALL OF THEM.

Fun Fact about Shannon

I LOVE unsweetened carrot juice.
